Join LGB International at Conference on Saturday

In October 2024, a small group of us met the day after the LGB Alliance conference and decided to create LGB International. We decided to bring together the existing national LGB groups under one federation, to support each other, to share tactics and information and work together to influence multilateral organisations. Since LGB International began launched in September, we have seen the lesbian, gay and bisexual movement revitalised with groups starting in many new countries. We have lobbied the United Nations, the European Union and the government of Senegal to argue for the rights of LGB people to meet, live and love freely without either the old homophobia (homosexuality is still illegal in 63 countries) or the new homophobia (we see regular attacks on our right to meet without heterosexuals).

So it is great that we will see a much larger group of international visitors at this Saturday’s LGB Alliance conference in London. If you are joining us in London, please come to the two sessions that LGB International has organised to learn about our work and get involved.

Meet LGB International

This session will have speakers from our national groups in Taiwan, the USA, Sweden, Bulgaria and Colombia. They will discuss the struggles to rebuild the LGB movement in their part of the world, the challenges they face and the progress they are making.

Heading South

In this session we will hear speakers from Pakistan, Mozambique and Bangladesh about the reality for lesbian, gay and bisexual people in those countries and the challenges they face from both the old and the new homophobia. We are also delighted that Renato Sabbadini (pictured) will join us. From 2013-2018, he was the Executive Director of ILGA (what was then the International Lesbian & Gay Association) and will discuss what went wrong with the LGB movement and how LGB International can restore this.

Conference details and tickets are available.
